Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 tbsp matcha powder
  • 24 lady fingers

Custard

  • 3 egg yolks
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup hot milk
  • 1 ½ cup heavy whipping cream

Dusting

  • 2 tbsp matcha powder

Instructions

  • Tea Preparation: Dissolve matcha powder in hot water; cool to room temperature (~10 minutes).

Custard

  • Beat sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla for 3–5 minutes until smooth.
  • Gradually add hot milk (approximately 1 tbsp increments) while mixing continuously.
  • Soften mascarpone separately, then slowly incorporate the egg mixture.Whip heavy cream 7–10 minutes until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold whipped cream into custard until smooth.

Layering (8"x8" dish)

  • Dip ~12 ladyfingers in tea; arrange on bottom.
  • Spread half the custard over first layer.
  • Dip remaining ~12 ladyfingers in tea; layer on top.
  • Spread remaining custard as final layer.
  • Refrigerate 8 hours, covered.
  • Dust matcha powder on top before serving.
  • Storage: Refrigerate up to 3 days.
